I watched the trailer of Call Me by Your Name and I disliked it, however the good reviews created some curiosity in me to watch this film.
This story shows the love between an american student and his teacher’s son placed in somewhere in north of Italy during the summer of 1983. It’s a beautiful story full of great and memorable characters, an incredible soundtrack and memorable and well directed scenes.
Every single scene in this movie has an impressive cinematography, the colors, the scenarios, everything is beautiful and artistic and gave us an incredible summer vibe. I’ve seen the movie during a winter night and sometimes I felt something that I can’t explain, like if I was watching the movie during the summer and feeling that vibe (I’m really sorry, but I don’t know how to explain.
The chemistry between the main characters Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer, some scenes made me wonder if they’re are a real couple in the real life. Even the scenes between Timothée with Esther Garrel look realistic. These actors deserve an Oscar.
The only problem I’ve found was during the Elio’s coming out for Oliver, I mean, Elio never said was gay, how Oliver understood that?
Call Me by Your Name tells a beautiful and sad story in the same time. Why is sad? It’s sad because we know since the beginning, Oliver only came to Italy for the summer and after that he needs to go to USA again. I won’t tell if that happens or not.
I’m sure a lot of people will love, even if they’re straight, bisexual or gay. Because this is a story about our first love and disappointments. It made me want to see more about these characters. I’m really waiting for a sequel and know what happened to Elio and Oliver.
